71.9 MW of solar across three cement complexes — the largest solar installation in Indonesia’s cement sector
Indocement and SUN built 71.9 MW of solar across its Citeureup, Cirebon and Tarjun complexes: over 108 million kWh a year and 85,000 tonnes less CO₂.

Figures are SUN’s published estimates, pending SUN validation.

01What problem did Indocement need to solve?
- Cement is a hard-to-abate sector, and global pressure on cement producers to decarbonise is growing.
- Indonesia has set a Net Zero Emissions target for 2060 and wants more renewables in its energy mix.
- As part of Heidelberg Materials, Indocement applies the group’s global sustainability standards in Indonesia.
02Who is Indocement?
PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk runs three main production complexes: Citeureup, Cirebon and Tarjun.
Solar is one part of a wider decarbonisation plan that also covers refuse-derived fuel (RDF), alternative raw materials to cut process emissions, a low-carbon energy roadmap and lower-carbon cement products.
03What did SUN build?
Indocement developed 71.9 MW of solar power across its three production complexes, with SUN as strategic partner.
SUN delivers the system under its sustainability-as-a-service approach, which aims to give heavy industry reliable energy, long-term cost efficiency and better energy security when energy prices are volatile.

“The cement industry has no choice but to transform. At Indocement, we have chosen to lead that transformation. The development of the largest solar power installation in the sector is proof that decarbonization can be delivered in a real, measurable, large-scale manner, fully integrated with the operational needs of industry.”
“For us, SUN’s role goes beyond being a solar power provider. We are a decarbonization partner for industry.”

05Questions about this project
How large is Indocement’s solar installation?
71.9 MW across the Citeureup, Cirebon and Tarjun production complexes, described in SUN’s release as the largest solar power installation in Indonesia’s cement sector.
How much CO₂ does it avoid?
More than 85,000 tonnes of CO₂ a year, from more than 108 million kWh of clean energy a year — equivalent to planting 1.4 million trees annually, according to the release.
What is SUN’s role in the project?
SUN is Indocement’s strategic partner and supplies the system under its sustainability-as-a-service approach.
